Inventor(s) include Dr. Sooriaprakas Chandrasekaran; Dr. Gopikaraj V; Dr. D. Nalluswamy; and Dr. Arunagirinathan.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process of preparation of endodontic irrigant composition for biofilm disruption comprises of following steps; a. dispersing Thanga Bhasma in distilled water under continuous magnetic stirring and subjecting to probe sonication followed by cooling to obtain a Thanga Bhasma suspension; b. collecting leaves of Ocimum sanctum and washing with distilled water followed by shade drying and grinding to form a Ocimum sanctum powder followed by dissolving in ethanol and incubating followed by filtering to form a filtrate of ethanolic extract and concentrating to form Ocimum sanctum extract; c. collecting resin from Commiphora myrrha shrub and shade drying followed by grinding to form a Commiphora myrrha powder and dissolving in ethanol followed by incubating and filtering to form a filtrate of ethanolic extract followed by concentrating to form Commiphora myrrha extract; d. mixing the Ocimum sanctum extract, polyethylene glycol (PEG 400), phenoxyethanol and the Commiphora myrrha extract with the Thanga Bhasma suspension under stirring to form a homogeneous mixture followed by adjusting pH using citric acid(acidic) or sodium hydroxide(basic) followed by pre-filtering and filtering using appropriate membrane filter to form an endodontic irrigant followed by filing into a sterile light protective container and storing in appropriate temperature. The present invention also discloses an endodontic irrigant composition for biofilm disruption, prepared by the process as described above."
