MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441063261 A) filed by Dr. K. Geetha; and Dr. S. Satheshkumar, Vallam, Tamil Nadu, on Aug. 21, 2024, for 'a process of preparation of biodegradable progesterone-releasing intravaginal spill for synchronization of estrous cycles in cattle.'

The process comprises the preparation of electrospun sponges in a film-3D rod-like structure employing polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan/polyethylene glycol (PEG) and the incorporation of progesterone into the electrospun sponge to form a biodegradable progesterone-releasing intravaginal spill. The present invention also discloses a biodegradable progesterone-releasing intravaginal spill for the synchronization of the estrous cycle in cattle."
