MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122856 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education and Research; Meenakshi Ammal Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'a process of preparation of bioactive herbal formulation for management of oral squamous cell carcinoma.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process of preparation of bioactive herbal formulation for management of oral squamous cell carcinoma comprises of a. collecting aerial parts of Selaginella bryopteris, washing, shade drying and grinding to form a powder followed by dissolving in methanol, incubating, filtering and concentrating to form Selaginella bryopteris extract; b. constructing column chromatography using glass column packed with silica gel prepared as a slurry in n-hexane and conditioning the column with chloroform, mixing the Selaginella bryopteris extract with silica gel and loading onto the column, eluting and collecting fractions of terpenoids and non-flavonoid i. for terpenoids: elute with chloroform:methanol, collecting and evaporating fraction 4 to form a purified terpenoids; ii. for non-flavonoid: elute with ethyl acetate: acetic acid: water, collecting and evaporating fraction 5 to form a purified non-flavonoid; c. mixing the purified terpenoids and purified non-flavonoid in an appropriate ratio to form a bioactive herbal formulation."
