MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133861 A) filed by Karunya Institute Of Technology And Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a process of immobilization of bimetallic nanoparticles on polymer matrix for dye degradation studies.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kalidass Subramanium; Mr. Suresh Kumar Krishnan; and Dr. Kavitha Subbiah.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process of preparation of Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles immobilized polyurethane foam matrix for dye degradation. The process comprises of following steps. * First step of pretreatment of polyurethane foam matrix comprises of soaking polyurethane foam matrix in hydrochloric acid to form pretreated polyurethane foam matrix; * Second step of synthesis and immobilization of zerovalent iron nanoparticles over the pretreated polyurethane foam matrix comprises of treating the pretreated polyurethane foam matrix with ferric chloride and saturated sodium borohydride solution to form polyurethane foam matrix harboured zerovalent iron nanoparticles; * Final step of preparation of Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles immobilized polyurethane foam matrix comprises of treating the polyurethane foam matrix harboured zerovalent iron nanoparticles with palladium acetate to form Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles immobilized polyurethane foam matrix. The present invention also discloses a Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles immobilized polyurethane foam matrix for dye degradation prepared by the process described above."
