MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311084197 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Dec. 8, 2023, for 'a process for synthesis of poly-?-glutamic acid.'

Inventor(s) include Mahesh Shantappa Dharne; and Rakeshkumar Jaynarayan Yadav.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a field of biopolymers and microbial fermentation. Specifically, the present invention relates to a microbial process for industrial production of a biopolymer. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for synthesis of poly-?-glutamic acid from maltose and sugarcane bagasse. The process of the present invention is devoid of pre-treating of raw materials (biomass) thereby eliminating environmental and cost concerns."
