MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421005517 A) filed by Ekshikha Bhagtani, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Jan. 27, 2024, for 'a process for preparing sustainable composite material for tableware and food packaging applications.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention generally relates to a process for preparing sustainable composite material. The process comprises dehydrating Brewer's spent grain at a temperature of 45-60 C with air circulation; grinding dehydrated Brewers spent grain into a fine powder; cleaning and grinding peanut shells into a powder; mixing 55-70% w/w dehydrated Brewers spent grain, 30-45% w/w peanut shell powder, 5-15% w/w tapioca flour, 5-15% w/w wheat gluten, 1-5% w/w acacia gum, 0.5-1% w/w edible salt, 10-20% w/w edible oil, 0.5% w/w glycerol monostearate, 0.5-2% w/w vinegar, and 1-20% water to form a homogenous mixture; subjecting the mixture to compression molding at a temperature of 150-200 C and a pressure of 80-120 bar for 1-5 mins; cooling the molded product; and storing the product in dry packaging."
