MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521099250 A) filed by Icar-Central Institute Of Fisheries Education, Maharashtra, on Oct. 14, 2025, for 'a process for preparing a microbial floc.'

Inventor(s) include Babitha Rani Asanaru Majeedkutty; Narottam Prasad Sahu; Sathiya Kala Antony; and Thejaswini.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a process for preparing a microbial floc through a bioreactor. The process of the present disclosure is a starter culture for aquaculture, that is produced in a short duration of time and is made from aquaculture waste. The process of the disclosure produces hygienic and quality biofloc that improves the immunity, health, growth, and welfare of aquaculture organisms. The process of the present disclosure is simple, economical, and sustainable."
