MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072662 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Sept. 25, 2024, for 'a process for preparation of amides using substituted aryl borane catalyst.'

Inventor(s) include Dinesh Nanaji Sawant; and Amit Vinayak Gavit.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a novel and efficient catalytic process for the preparation of amides by reacting a carboxylic acid and amine in the presence of a substituted aryl borane catalyst under azeotropic reflux conditions. The process enables efficient amide bond formation with water as the sole byproduct, eliminates the need for stoichiometric activating agents or hazardous solvents, and is compatible with a broad range of aromatic and aliphatic substrates. The use of substituted aryl borane catalyst provides high yields and selectivity, operational simplicity, and scalability for industrial applications. The invention offers an environmentally friendly and robust catalytic system for amide synthesis, addressing the limitations of existing methods."
