MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521134643 A) filed by Pimpri Chinchwad College Of Engineering; Tanya Shruti; Atharv Rao; Prathamesh Jadhav; Sanika Tare; and Navya Saxena, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'a predictive and proactive handover system and method for seamless mobility in li-fi communication networks.'

Inventor(s) include Tanya Shruti; Atharv Rao; Prathamesh Jadhav; Sanika Tare; and Navya Saxena.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a predictive and proactive handover system and method for seamless mobility in Li-Fi communication networks. The system (100) comprises at least one user device (102) including a Li-Fi transceiver (102a) and motion sensing units (102b), a plurality of Li-Fi access points (104) defining optical coverage zones, and a Li-Fi network controller (106) communicatively coupled thereto. A predictive handover engine (108), implemented as a processor (110) and operatively associated with the Li-Fi network controller (106), is configured to receive motion data indicative of user velocity, direction, or orientation, and to process historical optical signal characteristics and environmental illumination parameters. Based on such data, the processor (110) predicts a future position of the user device (102), determines a target Li-Fi access point (104) prior to link degradation, and initiates pre-authentication and pre-allocation of communication resources to enable uninterrupted handover."
