MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521109102 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Nov. 10, 2025, for 'a portable water purification system and a method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Saha Biswajit; Panchal Rahulkumar; Rajput Vivek Anarsingh; K P Akash; Zagade Atharva Gajanan; and Rastogi Vansh.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable water purification system (100) and method (200) are disclosed. The system (100) includes a cylindrical main pressure chamber (106) sealed at a bottom end by an end cap (107) and at a top end by a reducer fitting (105). A cylindrical filter cartridge (106a) is axially disposed within the chamber (106) and comprises activated carbon, an ultrafiltration membrane, and ion-exchange resins. A filtered water outlet (106b) extends from a side wall of the chamber (106) below the filter cartridge (106a). A manual pressurization and filling assembly connected to the reducer fitting (105) includes a Tee-joint (103) with a Schrader valve (104b) forming an air inlet and a ball valve (101) with a connector pipe (102) forming a water inlet. Untreated water is introduced, pressurized, and discharged as purified water, providing a portable, low-cost, electricity-free water purification solution."
