MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531097906 A) filed by IIT Guwahati Technology Innovation And Development Foundation; and Mahato, Ashish Kumar, Guwahati, Assam, on Oct. 10, for 'a portable real-time flood and weather monitoring system.'

Inventor(s) include Mahato, Ashish Kumar; Dhulekar, Abhijeet Manoj; and Dwivedy, Santosha K.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a portable real-time flood and weather monitoring system. The system is capable of installation at any location above water surfaces to ensure safety from floods. The system comprises a solar panel (101) connected to an MPPT module (106) and rechargeable battery (107) for uninterrupted power, with an optional AC supply. A control unit (120) enclosed in a waterproof casing (122) houses a microcontroller (124) connected to sensors: ultrasonic sensor (128) for water level measurement, temperature sensor (125), humidity sensor (127), and atmospheric pressure sensor (126) for weather monitoring. Air vents (123) allow accurate atmospheric data collection. The system transmits real-time data via a GSM/Wi-Fi module (121) to a cloud server for visualization and analysis. Warning and normal-condition LEDs (129, 130) indicate status, while an ON/OFF switch (131) controls operation. The device's compact, portable, and waterproof design allows deployment on bridges, poles, or flood-prone areas."
