MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511115017 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 21, 2025, for 'a portable handheld biosensor system and method for rapid detection of food allergens.'
Inventor(s) include Rahul Kumar; Pankaj Gautam; Edappayil Janeeshma; Debasis Mitra; and Rachan Karmakar.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable handheld biosensor system for rapid detection of food allergens is disclosed wherein a microfluidic sample handling system incorporating a microfluidic chip with pre-formed microchannels directs minute food extract volumes to detection regions. The integrated biosensor array, comprising sensor elements with biochemical recognition elements such as antibodies and aptamers, selectively binds allergenic proteins and transduces measurable signals. An AI-assisted data processing module with a microprocessor and machine learning algorithms further processes these signals to generate qualitative and quantitative allergen detection data, which is displayed via a user interface featuring a touchscreen and control buttons. Wireless connectivity enables real-time data transmission while a rechargeable battery module provides regulated power, all within a portable, battery-powered unit that advances the field of biosensing in food safety monitoring."
