MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126824 A) filed by Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 15, 2025, for 'a plier for incorporation of angulation in ribbon archwire and method of fabrication thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ayush Dixit; Dr. Dinesh Kumar Bagga; Dr. Poonam Agrawal; Dr. Rishibha Bhardwaj; Dr. Kanak Priya; and Dr. Warsha Yadav.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a plier (100) for controlled incorporation of angulation in a ribbon arch wire. The plier (100) comprises of a first and second member (102), each member (102) segmented into a handle portion (122), a wing portion (124), the first and second member (102) being pivotally coupled at an intermediate region (126), the said intermediate region (126). The wing portion (124) includes a flat surface (124a) and an adjoining edge (124b) for securely gripping the archwire for bending. The plier (100) also comprises of a wing protractor (104) mechanically coupled to the flat surface (124a) and configured to enable the controlled measurement and incorporation of torque, curve of spee in the ribbon archwire. The plier (100) also comprises of a miniaturized protractor (106) removably coupled to the intermediate region (126) of at least one member (102) to enable the controlled measurement of gable bend in intrusion utility archwire."
