MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133492 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a plant based internal curing cement mortar composition.'
Inventor(s) include S. Sharmila; Dr. N. Natarajan; and S. Dineshkumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention pertains to a plant-based internal curing cement mortar composition consisting of cement, fine aggregate, water, and a plant-derived bio-admixture designed to retain and slowly release moisture within the cement matrix during hydration. The bio admixture is not synthetic type, works as an internal curing agent by controlling the moisture for enabling the hydration at required time. The composition that has been claimed here improves hydration efficiency, microstructural development, and mechanical performance while lowering early age shrinkage and microcracking. The idea offers a green, renewable, and affordable alternative to traditional internal curing agents like superabsorbent polymers and polyethylene glycol."
