The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a phytomedicinal composition comprising wood nettle extract obtained from Urtica dioica for supporting glycemic control. The composition comprises bioactive phytoconstituents including flavonoids, phenolic compounds, lectins, polysaccharides and antioxidant compounds. The wood nettle extract is obtained from leaves, roots, or a combination thereof using aqueous or hydroalcoholic extraction and is standardized for retention of active phytoconstituents. The composition assists in regulation of blood glucose by supporting insulin secretion, improving insulin sensitivity, inhibiting carbohydrate-digesting enzymes including alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, and reducing oxidative stress associated with elevated glucose conditions. The composition may be formulated as capsules, tablets, powders, granules, herbal teas, liquid extracts, sachets or nutraceutical formulations. The invention also provides a process for preparing the standardized wood nettle extract-based composition for oral administration as a natural adjunct or supplement for glycemic-control support."
