MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411080409 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 22, 2024, for 'a photo-rechargeable supercapacitor and process thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a photo-rechargeable supercapacitor (PRSC) (100) comprising: a. a bi-functional electrode (102) comprising a photo-responsive layer (102a) having a metal oxide, and a conductive substrate (102b); and b. a counter electrode (104) comprising a carbonaceous layer (104a), wherein the photo-responsive layer is coated on the conductive substrate; and the carbonaceous layer comprises a carbon material selected from porous carbon aerogel, carbon nanotube, or activated carbon. The present disclosure provides a porous carbon aerogel and preparation thereof. The present disclosure further provides a method for preparing the bi-functional electrode, a method for preparing the counter electrode, and a process for preparing the supercapacitor."
