MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621001001 A) filed by M/S Geolife Agritech India Pvt. Ltd., Maharashtra, on Jan. 5, for 'a phenolic acid enriched bioactive fraction from the microalga chlorella vulgaris for agricultural application.'

Inventor(s) include Shweta Sanjay Phadtare.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a phenolic acid-enriched bioactive fraction derived from Chlorella vulgaris for agricultural application and to a method of its preparation. The method comprises extracting dried Chlorella vulgaris biomass with an ethanol-water solvent system, reconstituting the crude extract in water, 10 removing non-polar impurities by hexane washing, extracting phenolic acids into ethyl acetate, and concentrating the resulting fraction, optionally followed by chromatographic purification. In one embodiment, the fraction comprises about 18- 25% w/w total phenolic acids, including gallic acid-type, caffeic acid-type, ferulic acid-type, and p-coumaric acid-type derivatives in defined ranges. The enriched 15 fraction is reproducible in composition and is useful in agricultural formulations for enhancement of plant growth, mitigation of abiotic oxidative stress, and suppression of agriculturally relevant microbial disease. The uploaded data further support improved antioxidant activity relative to crude extract and improved vegetative growth performance in chilli crop following foliar application."
