MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521122451 A) filed by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'a pharmaceutical composition for rheumatic pain and methods thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pharmaceutical composition for managing rheumatic conditions is described, which includes a Colchicum ointment base and a Colchicum mother tincture. The composition process ensures temperature control below 70 C to maintain the tincture's potency. The composition is available in strengths from 3% to 10%, allowing for clinical customization based on patient needs. It provides localized delivery, reduces systemic load, and enhances compliance, particularly for patients with limited mobility. The composition base is composed of wool fat, paraffins, and Cetostearyl alcohol, ensuring hydration and ease of spread ability, and is free from irritants and preservatives, making it suitable for chronic use."
