MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611025660 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 4, for 'a ph-responsive, mucoadhesive nano-encapsulated herbal composition and method for synergistic anti-gonococcal activity and controlled topical release.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pH-responsive mucoadhesive nano-encapsulated herbal antimicrobial composition and method for topical delivery of synergistic bioactives against gonococcal infection. The composition comprises standardized herbal extracts including curcumin, Azadirachta indica, Melaleuca alternifolia, and Glycyrrhiza glabra encapsulated within nanocarriers having a particle size in the range of 50-200 nm, uniformly dispersed in a dual-polymer mucoadhesive matrix comprising chitosan and carbopol. The formulation remains stable and physiologically compatible at normal mucosal pH (3.8-4.5) and exhibits accelerated and controlled release at infection-associated elevated pH above 5.5."
