MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441010450 A) filed by Holy Cross College, Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'a novel power mobility chair with enhanced functional features for individuals with locomotor disabilities.'

The modular lift assembly enables incremental seat height adjustments to assist users in performing task-based activities, such as reaching shelves or working at ground level. A multi-terrain mobility system with puncture-resistant tyres and a B-A-B motor configuration provides stable navigation across various surfaces, including gravel, grass, and inclined pathways. The joystick-controlled navigation system utilizes CAN bus communication, ensuring real-time control of movement and seat adjustments. A detachable tool storage unit offers secure and easily accessible space for personal or medical items. Safety features include a 3-point seat belt with high-tensile strength and anti-tip wheels to improve stability on inclines and rough terrain. This invention applies to medical rehabilitation, home care, and outdoor mobility, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards."
