MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113864 A) filed by Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'a novel biostimulant based on phyllanthus emblica leaf extract for wheat crop.'

Inventor(s) include Shachi Singh; Anjali Yadav; and Sarika Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the field of agriculture and particularly to a novel bio stimulant derived from phyllanthus embilica leaves and a method of preparing the same. It is a cost effective and environment friendly crop protectant, which as a single product could be used to control biotic and abiotic stress along with increasing growth and productivity of crop plants. The disclosure also describes method of application of bio stimulant on crop plants, taking wheat as an example. The results of the bio stimulant treatment revealed that the yield parameters were increased, comprising: plant height, biomass, grain yield, chlorophyll and carotenoid content, total protein, carbohydrate, phenolics and enzyme activity. The results also demonstrates improvement in salt and drought stress tolerance as well as biotic stress tolerance against rust fungus, Puccinia triticina."
