MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123567 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 8, 2025, for 'a novel approach to restraining devices.'
Inventor(s) include Shubham Tamili; Raman Krishnan; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a patient restraint device integrating dual mechanical fixation with physiological monitoring and safety alarms. The device comprises a primary strap (1) for immobilization, a secondary strap (2) for additional security, and a quick-release mechanism (3) for emergency disengagement. A biomedical sensor unit (4) embedded in the strap continuously measures pulse and oxygen saturation (SpOD), while a pressure sensing element (5) monitors compression exerted on the patient's limb. Data are processed by a control and display unit (6), which activates an alarm system (7) including visual, audible, and wireless alerts when preset thresholds are exceeded. The system enhances patient safety by preventing circulatory compromise, ensuring continuous monitoring, and providing early warning during restraint application."
