MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641021585 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 24, for 'a non-electronic mechanical water-based visual reminder system for regular human hydration.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Pavithra. S; Dr. Anisha. V; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a non-electronic, mechanical, water-based visual reminder system designed to promote regular hydration in humans. The system operates without the use of el.ectrical power, batteries, sensors, or digital components and utilizes the controlled movement, displacement, or level change of water within a transparent or semi-transparent chamber to provide a visible indication of hydration timing. The visual cue is generated through gravity-driven, capillary, or mechanically regulated water flow mechanisms that reset automatically or manually after water consumption. The device may be integrated into drinking containers, standalone hydration aids, workplace accessories, or wearable-adjacent structures to encourage periodic water intake throughout the day. The invention is cost-effective, environmentally sustainable, portable, and suitable for use in homes, educational institutions, healthcare settings, sports environments, and occupational workplaces. By providing a continuous and intuitive visual reminder, the system improves hydration adherence without reliance on electronic reminders or cognitive load."
