MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053846 A) filed by Career Point University, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, on April 28, for 'a natural polyherbal soil conditioner and fertilizer with integrated pest-repellent properties.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a polyherbal bioactive organic fertilizer composition comprising a synergistic blend of natural materials including cow dung, soil, sand, medicinal plant components, and nutrient-rich oil seed cakes. The formulation incorporates plant-based ingredients such as Acacia nilotica, Semecarpusanacardium, Peganumharmala, Ficusreligiosa, Aeglemarmelos, Syzygiumcumini, Eclipta alba, Vitexnegundo, Tinosporacordifolia, Ficusbenghalensis, Dalbergiasissoo, and Triphala (Emblicaofficinalis, Terminaliachebula, Terminaliabellirica), along with oil cakes of Sesamumindicum, Jatrophacurcas, Azadirachtaindica, Prunusdulcis, and Brassica juncea. The composition is prepared through a process involving cleaning, drying, pulverizing, mixing, and controlled fermentation of the ingredients to obtain a stable and homogeneous fertilizer product. The resulting formulation enhances soil fertility, improves soil structure, and promotes beneficial microbial activity. Additionally, the presence of bioactive phytochemicals imparts antimicrobial, antifungal, and insect-repellent properties, thereby reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The invention provides a cost-effective, eco-friendly, and sustainable solution for improving crop productivity, soil health, and environmental safety, making it suitable for diverse agricultural applications."
