MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531124357 A) filed by Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal, on Dec. 9, for 'a nanovesicular composition of betulinic acid and uses thereof.'

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a nanovesicular composition derived from the naturally occurring terpenoid betulinic acid. More particularly, the invention provides nanovesicular composition of betulinic acid in aqueous medium and its application in the encapsulation and controlled release of anticancer drugs, antibacterial molecules, and toxic chemicals. These nanovesicles are biocompatible, renewable, and structurally stable, and are capable of efficiently entrapping specifically anticancer drug doxorubicin. A method of preparing the nanovesicular composition is also provided herein."
