MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611001589 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 7, for 'a nano emulsion composition and process for treatment of dementia.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a nano emulsion composition and process for treatment of dementia using Symplocos racemosa (100), that comprises an active ingredient comprising Symplocos racemosa bark extract in a predefined ratio, the extract exhibiting neuroprotective properties, an extraction medium comprising hydro-ethanolic solvent in a predefined ratio, the extraction medium facilitating the selective extraction of bioactive compounds from the active ingredient, a polymer-based stabilizer comprising chitosan, facilitating structural stability for retention and absorption, a lipophilic carrier comprising olive oil, promoting greater penetration and longer circulation for long-lasting therapeutic effects, a co-surfactant comprising polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400), facilitating the solubility of bio actives, improving emulsification and drug delivery, a combination of surfactants comprising polysorbate 80 (tween 80) and sorbitan monolaurate 20 (span 20), facilitating uniform dispersion of bio actives in the formulation, inhibiting aggregation, enhancing systemic distribution, a natural polysaccharide-based gelling agent comprising sodium alginate facilitating sustained release."
