M; Mr. Vineeth P; Dr. Najiya Beegum T. P; Ms. Sakthipriya M; and Dr. R. Manikandan, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 29, for 'a mycelium-based biodegradable foam for eco-friendly packaging applications.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The system (100) includes a mycelium-based biodegradable foam for eco-friendly packaging applications comprising a substrate preparation unit (102), a mycelium inoculation unit (104), a controlled growth chamber (106), a mold shaping unit (108), a drying and deactivation unit (110), and a finishing and trimming unit (112), wherein the substrate preparation unit (102) prepares a growth medium, the mycelium inoculation unit (104) introduces fungal cultures, the controlled growth chamber (106) supports mycelium propagation, the mold shaping unit (108) forms packaging structures, the drying and deactivation unit (110) stabilizes the foam, and the finishing and trimming unit (112) refines the final biodegradable product. The invention enhances environmental sustainability and promotes biodegradable alternatives to conventional packaging materials."
