MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531105540 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Kharagpur; and Indian Institute Of Technology Jodhpur, Kharagpur, West Bengal, on Oct. 31, 2025, for 'a multimodal headband system for activity recognition and biometric data collection.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a wearable head-mounted sensing system for biometric data collection and activity recognition comprising a flexible headband structure adapted to be worn on a user's head, a sensing module removably housed within the headband, one or more physiological sensors and one or more inertial sensors operatively integrated within said sensing module and configured to acquire multiple biometric signals and real-time user's activity/motion detection and a processing unit housed in said headband and operatively connected to the sensing module to perform real-time sensor data acquisition, fusion, classification and user's activity/gesture recognition."
