MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132509 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'a multifunctional streetlight system powered by renewable energy.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Chinky Jaggi.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a Multifunctional Streetlight System operating on the Law of Conservation of Energy. A multifunctional streetlight system powered by renewable energy, the system comprising: a solar energy harvesting module; a wind energy harvesting module; a rechargeable battery configured to store electrical energy generated from the solar and wind modules; a charge controller for regulating charging and discharging cycles; an LED lighting unit powered by the stored electrical energy; a plurality of sensors including accident-detection sensors, fire-detection sensors, and environmental pollutant-detection sensors; a communication module comprising GSM and GPS units; an Internet of Things (IoT) processing unit; and a bidirectional power conversion unit enabling electric vehicle (EV) charging; wherein all components are integrated to operate in accordance with the Law of Conservation of Energy to provide illumination, public-safety functions, environmental monitoring, and EV charging using renewable-energy-based power."
