MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421034980 A) filed by Haresh K Sippy, Maharashtra, on May 2, 2024, for 'a multifaceted 't-shaped' gasket.'

Inventor(s) include Haresh K Sippy.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A multifaceted gasket assembly for sealing a joint between a tubesheet (200) and a shell (300) in a heat exchanger (1000), comprising: a T-shaped gasket (100) including: a radially extending horizontal portion (111) to be seated, radially, between tubesheet (200) and shell (300); an axially extending vertical portion (112) integrally formed with the horizontal portion (111) and abutting the tubesheet (200); T-shaped gasket (100) provides dual-stage sealing mechanism: i) a first stage seal (S1) wherein fluid pressure on the shell side (301) acts upon the horizontal portions and vertical portions, of the T-shaped gasket (100), thereby enhancing gasket contact pressure through self-energization, and a second stage seal (S2) wherein mechanical clamping force is applied via an internal flange (400) through an internal cylinder (500), compressing an outer portion of the vertical portion (112), of the T-shaped gasket (100), against the tubesheet (200) and the shell (300), ensuring a leak-tight joint."
