MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009184 A) filed by Sharda Motor Industries Ltd. (Research & Development Centre), Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 29, for 'a multi textured heat shield for automotive components.'
Inventor(s) include K. Prakash; R. Balamurgan; and Suresh Natrajan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A multi textured heat shield 200 for automotive components is made of a thin metallic sheet of stainless steel or aluminum having a thickness in a range of 0.15 to 0.25 mm and includes a plurality of randomly distributed raised geometric features/shapes 202 to prevent adverse effects of heat transfer between heat emitting parts and adjacently positioned vulnerable parts and to prevent rise in cabin-floor temperature and obviate the associated safety risks. The heat shield 200 is lighter in weight, provides higher stiffness, thereby improving vibration damping and fatigue life, besides also overcoming packaging problem faced with the conventional heat shields. The geometric features 202 include one or more of a rhombus shape 202A, an I-sectional shape 202B, a three-lobed shape 202C and an elbow shape 202D, and have trapezoidal or curved cross section embossed both below and above a baseline of the sheet metal with different proportions of embossing depth."
