MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631044417 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Durgapur, West Bengal, on April 7, for 'a multi-epitope peptide vaccine and a method of preparation thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nibedita Mahata; and Mr. Pinkan Sadhukhan.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a multi-epitope peptide vaccine construct for protection against Shigella spp. and enteroinvasive Escherichia coli EIEC), along with a method of preparation thereof. The vaccine is derived from the conserved IpaH4.5 protein and comprises selected B-cell, MHC class I, and MHC class II epitopes linked using EAAAK, KK, and AAY linkers, and adjuvanted with a TLR4 agonist peptide (RS-04). The construct is capable of eliciting humoral as well as cell-mediated immune responses, especially of the Th1 type, as indicated by interferon gamma and interleukin-2 production."
