MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511093771 A) filed by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sept. 30, 2025, for 'a multi-bacterial consortium for enhancing plant growth promotion in mixed heavy metal stressed soil.'

Inventor(s) include Priyanka Bharti; and Sarad Kumar Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a multi-bacterial consortium for enhancing plant growth promotion in mixed heavy metal stressed soil and its method of preparation thereof. The consortium comprises pure cultures of bacterial strains: Alcaligenes sp. strain PB23, Lysinibacillus sp. strain PB07, Bacillus pumilus strain PB07, and Kocuria sp. Strain PB13. This consortium is effectively used for seed priming to improve seed germination and plant growth in soils contaminated with heavy metals such as Arsenic, Mercury, Lead, and Chromium. Experimental results demonstrate positive outcomes on seed germination and various plant growth-promoting traits, confirming the consortium's efficacy in mitigating heavy metal stress and promoting robust plant development in contaminated environments."
