MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086066 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'a mounting structure for mounting a battery pack in a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Akhilesh Kollipara; and Prashant Betgerimath.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A mounting structure (100) for mounting a battery pack (304) in a vehicle includes a vehicle floor (200) having a plurality of cross members (100) provided on a lower side of the vehicle floor (200). The cross members (100) comprise: a top portion (102) fixed on the lower side of the vehicle floor (200), and a bottom portion (110) configured in a vertically slidable engagement with the top portion (102) such that the bottom portion (110) upon touching the battery pack (304) of the vehicle, undergoes upward movement, allowing the battery pack (304) to be accommodated between the vehicle floor (200) and a battery support (302) thereby addressing variations in dimensions of the battery pack (304)."
