MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441074881 A) filed by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'a modular split-type sliding guide-rail mechanism to obtain varying sunroof lengths for different vehicle models.'
Inventor(s) include Lekshmana Perumal S; and Janakiraman R.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A modular split-type sliding guide-rail mechanism (20) to obtain varying sunroof lengths for different vehicle models. The modular split-type sliding guide-rail mechanism (20) comprises a sunroof (10) comprises a frame with rear supporting bracket (2) and a front supporting bracket (4), fitted with fixed glass (5) and glass (6) movable between the said rear and front supporting brackets (2, 4) on a pair of guide rails (1a, 1b). The brackets (2, 4) also house the motors and fabric rollo connected thereto. The mechanism (20) is characterized by an inner guide rail (1a) sliding within an outer guide rail (1b). The guiderails (1a, 1b) are overlapped, fastened and locked together by mean of a fastening mechanism (3aa; 3bb; F) for obtaining the sunroof (10) of a predetermined length for a specific vehicle model, obviating the need to develop new guide-rails for different vehicle models."
