MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123879 A) filed by Christ University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a model to understand quarter life crisis through meaning in life: self compassion as a mediator and social support as moderator.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The primary aim ofthi~ invention is to provide a psychological model to understand and negate the Quarter-Life Crisis (QLC) by integrating Mem1ing i~ Life, Self-Compassion and Social Support into a unified framework is the n1ain focus of this invention. The model studies the influence or'how meaning has an effeCt during the life stage of early adulthood. Self-compassion functions as a mediator while Social Support is seen to be a moderator. With a sample of I,850 young adults ranging from 18-39 years of age, the model was validated statistically through mediation and moderation analyses. Results deduced from this model it was eviqent that self-compassion fully mediates the relationship between meaning in life and quarter-life crisis, while social supp01i stJ:engthens the same relationship QY acting as a bt1ffer against distress. As far as applications go, this model,firmly establishes a scientific ~~ . . foundation aimed at developing interventions, digital assessment tools that reduce emotiqpal turbulence during the transition period.as well as in counselling frameworks. It is applicable . across clinical, educational and organizational settings and promotes emotional regulation, self-awareness and c01mectedness an1ong peers among young adults. This in turn contributes to improved psychological well-being and overali:public mental health awareness."
