MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122773 A) filed by Cochin University Of Science And Technology, Cochin, Kerala, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'a microstrip patch antenna.'

Inventor(s) include Rodrigues, Stephen; and Kurup, Hrudya B.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A microstrip patch antenna (300) is disclosed. The microstrip patch antenna (300) includes a ground plane, a dielectric substrate disposed on the ground plane, a radiating patch disposed on the dielectric substrate, and a feed element connected to the central width axis of the radiating patch. The feed element is configured to excite the radiating patch. The microstrip patch antenna (300) further includes a plurality of shorting pins electrically connecting the radiating patch to the ground plane. Each of the plurality of shorting pins being positioned at a predetermined location relative to the patch to modify the radiation pattern, thereby forming a radiation null in a back lobe of the antenna's far-field pattern."
