MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441031721 A) filed by Srigpavens Life Sciences Private Limited, Hyderabad, Telangana, on April 22, 2024, for 'a microbial biosurfactant based biopesticide composition for thrips control in chilli.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a microbial biosurfactant based biopesticide composition for thrip (Thrips parvispinous) control in chilli plants. The microbial biosurfactant based biopesticide composition comprises of a) a biosurfactant, b) a stabilizer, c) an emulsifier, d) a preservative, e) a pH stabilizer; and f) a carrier wherein the biosurfactant is extracted from at least one bacillus species. More specifically, the microbial biosurfactants are derived from Bacillus Pseudomycoides. The invention also provides the method of production of a microbial biosurfactant based biopesticide composition and a method for controlling thrips infestation in chilli plants. The invention further enables a targeted pest control, emphasizing species-specificity and minimized environmental impact. Said method of controlling thrip infestation reduce risk of developing resistance and provides long-term solution for thrips management."
