MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521095703 A) filed by Gaucello Private Limited, Pune, Maharashtra, on Oct. 6, 2025, for 'a method of synthesising nanocellulose from agro-wastes.'
Inventor(s) include N. Rakesh Rao; and L. Nagarajan Rao.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method of synthesising nanocellulose, from agro-wastes, is disclosed herein. The disclosed method comprises following steps: pre-hydrolysing cow dung in sulphuric acid; dissolving in sodium oxide and sodium sulfide to obtain a mixture; heating, to obtain a pulp; treating with chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, and sodium hydroxide, to obtain bleached cellulose; and grinding, to obtain nanocellulose. The disclosed method offers at least the following advantages: does not require expensive raw materials; does not involve energy-intensive processes; leads to high quality nanocellulose; facilitates conversion of agro-wastes, into value added products; and/or facilitates transitioning, towards a circular economy."
