MUMBAI, India, June 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321086677 A) filed by Tata Motors Limited, Maharashtra, on Dec. 19, 2023, for 'a method of coating a metal substrate.'
Inventor(s) include Animesh Kumar; and Mrunal Hatwalne.
The application for the patent was published on June 20, under issue no. 25/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a method of coating a metal substrate. The method includes preparing a metal substrate of a predetermined thickness by at least one of shot blasting and pickling for a first predetermined time. Further, the prepared metal substrate is subjected to 5 cleaning and degreasing with a cleaning solution for a second predetermined time. Furthermore, the cleaned and degreased metal substrate is rinsed with a rinsing fluid for a third predetermined time. Further, the rinsed metal substrate is subjected to an iono-gelation process, where the iono-gelation process is performed by dipping the metal substrate in a coating solution for a fourth predetermined time to form a gel layer on the metal substrate. Additionally, the gel layer formed 10 on the metal substrate is cured at a predetermined temperature for a fifth predetermined time to form a coating on the metal substrate, where the coating enhances corrosion resistance."
