MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411027941 A) filed by Chairman, Defense Research & Development Organisation, New Delhi, on April 4, 2024, for 'a method for preparing a thermoplastic polyether ether ketone/ carbon fibre prepreg.'

Inventor(s) include Ravi Prakash; Dibyendu Sekhar Bag; and Pralay Maiti.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present subject matter relates to a method 200 of developing carbon fibre/polyether ether ketone (CF/PEEK) prepreg 104 using stable slurry 101. The method 200 for preparing a thermoplastic CF/PEEK prepreg 104 includes spreading 202 a pre-determined amount of a stable slurry (101) on woven carbon fibres 105. The stable slurry 101 may be made up of PEEK 102 and an organic solvent 103. Further the method includes drying 204 the stable slurry 101 spread on the woven carbon fibres 105 at a first pre-determined temperature forming a composite with a thickness. The thickness of the composite corresponds to the pre-determined amount of the stable slurry 101. The method 200 further includes performing a hot compression molding 206 on the composite at a second pre-determined temperature for preparing the thermoplastic carbon fibre /polyether ether ketone (CF/PEEK) prepreg 104."
