MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053309 A) filed by Career Point University, Hamirpur, Himachal, on April 27, for 'a method for preparing a skincare formulation with enhanced bioavailability of thuja.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ram Avtar; Dr. Sonam Sharma; Ms. Kamlesh Kumari; Ayushi Dogra; and Ankita Thakur.

The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a novel herbal skin-care cream comprising Thuja leaves and bark powder as primary active ingredients in combination with selected herbal components including as Neem, Haridra, Manjistha, Aloe vera, and Tulsi. To increase the solubility, stability and transdermal penetration of bioactive components made from Thuja leaves and bark, the invention uses a specialized processing and formulation engineering technique. Thuja leaves and bark in powdered form enhance stability and interact synergistically with other herbal ingredients in the formulation. The formulation uses powdered Thuja that has been finely processed and contains thujone, terpene derivatives, and polyphenolic compounds, among other therapeutically active substances. The invention offers a safe, natural and efficient herbal preparation for enhancing skin health and treating skin-related conditions, such as anti-inflammatory and antibacterial therapy, skin barrier repair, cosmetic rejuvenation, and the treatment of warts and skin tags. It is useful for dermatological and cosmetic applications."
