According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a method (100) for preparing a concrete composition. The method (100) includes steps of collecting overburden dump (OBD) material from a coal mine source comprising black cotton soil, sandstone, and shale, processing the OBD material by performing particle size distribution analysis to ensure particle fineness comparable to fine aggregates, mixing the processed OBD material with coarse aggregates, cement, and water to form a concrete mix, wherein the OBD material replaces between 10% and 30% by weight of natural fine aggregate and casting and curing the concrete mix to produce a concrete having compressive strength within 5% of conventional concrete prepared without OBD substitution."
