MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050853 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on April 21, for 'a method for preparing a batch seeded biological activated carbon filter for wastewater treatment.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for preparing a batch seeded biological activated carbon filter for wastewater treatment is disclosed. The method involves aerated batch seeding of activated carbon media using sewage and activated sludge under controlled dissolved oxygen conditions for a defined duration, followed by use in a filtration column. The BAC filter exhibits enhanced removal of dissolved organic carbon, nitrogen species, and emerging contaminants, along with improved microbial activity, biofilm stability, and operational performance."
