MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411009062 A) filed by Dr. Ramratan; and Raul Fangueiro, Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, on Feb. 10, 2024, for 'a method for preparation of ropes from cayratia trifolia l. fiber and resulting products thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ramratan; and Raul Fangueiro.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process for manufacturing of ropes from Cayratia trifolia L stem fibers and resulting products thereof. The process disclosed in present invention comprises steps of extraction of fibers from Cayratia trifolia L stems, manually cleaning the fibers to remove impurities, carding the fibers using traditional carding machine to align the fibers, spinning the fibers with spindle to form yarn, winding the yarn onto nostepinne, a bobbin, or directly into a skein and twisting the yarn together in opposite direction through plying process to form ropes and add strength and texture to ropes. The ropes are further knitted together in weft and warp direction to form knitted rugs/mats and are mixed with cotton fibers to form handmade flat rugs/mats."
