MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517078335 A) filed by Carbon Upcycling Technologies Inc., Calgary, Canada, on Aug. 18, for 'a method for mechanochemical carbon sequestration of solid feedstocks.'

Inventor(s) include Sinha, Apoorva; and Gascoyne, Owen.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method for the mechanochemical sequestration or capture of carbon from CO2 in solid feedstocks, the method comprising contacting a CO2-rich gas with the solid feedstock in a size reduction apparatus such as a mill at a first controlled moisture content of the solid feedstock, followed by increasing the moisture content of the solid feedstock and submitting it to a second carbon sequestration step. The invention further relates to an apparatus suitable for the mechanochemical sequestration of carbon dioxide in solid feedstocks."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 21, 2024, under International application No.PCT/IB2024/051661.
