MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441017047 A) filed by Heavy Vehicles Factory, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 9, 2024, for 'a method for manufacturing the component plate thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Lakshminarayanan C; Nidhimaran S; Kavitha S; and Kumar M.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an indexing fixture designed for the manufacturing of plate components using a Computer Numeric Control Horizontal Machining Center (CNC-HMC). The fixture, mountable on the machine's pallet, features a base block for foundational support, four top clamping elements for secure positioning without hindering machining operations, and is adaptable for various plate components. It includes a reference block, locating bush, and support bush for precise X, Y & Z axis positioning and repeatability. The design allows for single-pallet use across multiple setups, reducing the need for additional fixtures and minimizing dimensional errors within tolerance limits. The method employs a 180-degree machine table indexing for dual setup machining without component unloading, leveraging alignment against reference blocks and drill holes for consistent positioning. Additionally, it incorporates a part program with offset data to optimize tool paths and machine movements, significantly enhancing machining efficiency and accuracy."
