MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617015072 A) filed by Masarykova Univerzita, Brno, Czech Republic, on Feb. 11, for 'a method for increasing plant resistance to stress, and stress resistant plants.'

Inventor(s) include Melnikava, Alesia; Arnaud, Dominique; Paniague Correas Candelas, Maria; Hejatko, Jan; Mouille, Gregory; and Perreau, Francois.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a method of increasing the resistance of plants to abiotic stress, especially to drought and soil salinity, wherein the expression of the DIR13 gene or its ortholog or its homolog in the plant is increased. It also provides plants with such increased expression of the DIR13 gene or its ortholog or its homolog."

The patent application was internationally filed on July 21, 2024, under International application No.PCT/CZ2024/050048.
