MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123910 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a method for formulation and evaluation of prepared microcapsules of mefenamic acid.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Monika; Dr Sushma Verma; Dr Avijit Mazumder; Mr Sahil Khan; Swati Yadav; and Saumya Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a method for formulation and evaluation of prepared microcapsules of mefenamic acid by virtue of pulsatile drug delivery system (100) comprises conducting pre-formulation tests of mefenamic acid and selected excipients (102). The method also includes preparing a polymer solution (104) dissolved in acetone, dispersing mefenamic acid uniformly in the polymer solution. The method also includes isolating the formed microcapsules (106) by decantation. The method also includes characterizing the prepared microcapsules (108) by determining particle size distribution, surface morphology. The method also includes encapsulating the mefenamic acid-loaded microcapsules into formaldehyde-treated hard gelatin capsule bodies (110). The method also includes performing in vitro dissolution tests of the coated capsules in simulated gastrointestinal media (112) under controlled temperature and agitation conditions."
