MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541117180 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, on Nov. 26, 2025, for 'a method for extraction and gc-ms based quantification of cypermethrin in biological matrices.'

Inventor(s) include Prerna Juneja; Shankar M Bakkannavar; Vinutha R Bhat; Monalisa Biswas; and Ysphaneendramallimoggala.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a method for extracting and quantifying cypermethrin from biological matrices using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The method involves liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) with a solvent mixture of n-hexane and acetone to isolate cypermethrin from biological samples such as whole blood, plasma, serum, urine, and vitreous humor. The extracted sample is then centrifuged to separate the organic and aqueous phases, followed by evaporation under nitrogen gas to concentrate the cypermethrin. The concentrated extract is reconstituted in hexane and analyzed using GC-MS in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode. The method provides isomer resolution and quantitative analysis of cypermethrin in various biological matrices, including a validated approach for post-mortem vitreous humor analysis, making it suitable for toxicology and forensic science applications."
